About Peter & Sandra

Peter

Peter was born in Luton in 1949 into a dynamic Christian home. Although his father had a full time job, he was an evangelist at heart, taking the message as a scripture reader to the RAF barracks in Henlow, Bedfordshire. He planted a church in Luton which grew from small beginnings to over 100 in membership during the 60’s and 70’s. Peter was encouraged to study the Bible by his father and preached his first message at the age of 14. He has been preaching ever since.

Peter is a biology graduate and was Head of Biology in two schools for over 26 years, latterly in Whitchurch High School, the largest comprehensive school in Wales. He was also a church leader in Llandaff North Christian Centre for 20 years, where, amongst other duties, he took responsibility for the Bible Teaching programme in the church.

In 1995, he was invited to preach in a church in the Bahamas and he has returned to the islands to preach for at least a month every year since that date. He now spends nearly 6 months of the year in the Bahamas, preaching, teaching, mentoring and training leaders.

In 2002, Peter left teaching to devote himself more fully to Christian work and joined IGNITE to write and set up a Leadership Academy for young people. The Academy is a twelve-week course run on one evening per week and includes a weekend of residential studies. To date over 60 young people have been trained. He left IGNITE in 2005 to devote more of his time to working in the Bahamas and to preaching more throughout the UK. Peter has set up a new leadership course called One-2-Lead with two other workers and many more young people are currently being trained.

Sandra

Sandra was born in Cardiff and went to the Sunday School at Llandaff North. She was baptised and joined the church in her teens. Sandra trained as a secretary, working first with NatWest Bank and then in the Inland Revenue. She has always been super-efficient in managing the home and the family.

She has always had a heart for people and loves children. She is the very proud mother of four children, Stephen, Paul, Sarah and Matthew and five lovely grandchildren, Chloe, Charis, Peter, Charlie and Isaac. She is also very close to her in-laws, Fiona, Beth, Rob and Laura. Her family are still very important to her. She was a childminder for ten years and communicated her love for the Lord in the way she cared so diligently for them and witnessed to their parents. Many children attended Sunday School as a result of Sandra’s work.

When the family were all in secondary school, Sandra worked as database secretary in Whitchurch High school and learnt a lot of the computer and administrative skills that she has used in the years after she left the school to go into full time ministry. She was the administrator for the Leadership Academy in Big Ideas and does all the paperwork relating to our ministry.

Sandra is very hospitable and she opened up her home to a wide range of people. We had a Bible Study in our home every Tuesday evening for at least 10 years, and Sandra was key in providing a welcoming environment. She emails, phones and visits many people every week both in the UK and in the Bahamas and has been termed a female Barnabas – who was the son of encouragement.
