Encouraging Times
As I write, I am sitting on a patio overlooking the Everglades!
Encouraging Friends
We have just finished two months of service in the Bahamas and are taking a day's rest in the home of our friends Bob and Joanie Weber in West Palm Beach, Florida. They are always such an encouragement to us and such wonderful people that it is always a tonic to stay with them. The Lord knew that we needed a rest and He provided it for us.
Encouraging Ministry
We have always tried to be an encouragement to God's people wherever He sends us. This year they have been an encouragement to us. In the last month, February, we had such an encouraging time at the Chapel in Marsh Harbour.
In Bible Class we studied Jeremiah together and encouraged each other to keep challenging ourselves to check whether our hearts had strayed from the Lord who loves us with an everlasting love. We praise God for the good numbers who came every week and spoke about the stimulus that Jeremiah had given to their lives.
Every Sunday we enjoyed being with the early church in the Book of Acts and folloing their missionary zeal as God brought the message of the Good News out from Jerusalem and into the Gentile world. On the fianl Sunday we challenged those who were determined by God's Grace to live Christlike lives to stand and make a public commitment. Nearly forty people stood as we prayed for strength to live out what we had committed ourselves to. What an encouragement!
It is always difficult for folks to come out to midweek services, but we praise God for those who made that special effort to come each Wednesday evening for the Bible Study. Our subject was the Throne, the Scrool and the Lamb and each week we unpacked a section of Revelation 4-5. It was such an encouragement to watch the faces of the believers light up with joy as we saw just a little of the majestic glory of the Lord, the wonder of His plan of redemption and the astonishing sacrifice of the Lamb. Praise God for His word and we can truly say that we saw the word of God growing and living in the hearts of His people over the last month. We pray that it will remain there!
The Acts messages are on the website if you would like to hear them.
