Not home alone
Because we spend so much time travelling, home is even more special to us now.
It's not the brickwork, the furnished rooms or even the garden that is so special. It is the people! Since arriving home from the Greek Islands it is has a privilege to see our family and just enjoy being with them.
We landed in Gatwick at 4.00 pm and caught a train to Reading. Our nephew Mark picked us up and had a lovely evening chiiling out with him, Sara his wife and their two children. It brought back lots of happy memories of holidays spent together in days gone by.
Next stop was of course Bristol. This time we stayed with Sarah and Rob and of course Charlie. It is a grandparent's privilege to get up early to cuddle your children and so at 6.00 we fetched Charlie into bed with us! It is hard to describe the pride we felt as he snuggled in with us. Of course we also just had to see Isaac, our youngest grandson. How quickly he has changed! He is now reaching out for things and chatters away in his own language. It was a joy to share the beauties of the local area with him as we walked for an hour or so. Praise God that although we were home, we were not home alone!
After preaching in Chelsea Christian Centre on Sunday morning we went to Charlie's birthday party on 18th October and then made it back to Cardiff in the evening. Our two grandaughters came to the party so we had a fun time together there and on the way home. We ended up in our eldest son's home for Sunday evening! Home, but not alone!
On Tuesday some of our in-laws came to stay. We have grown very fond of Malcolm and Camilla, Rob's parents and it was great to meet up with them again and laugh together about - well I'm not really sure but we laughed anyway! We were home - but not home alone.
Today I am off to speak at the church where Stephen is a pastor. My subject? Not home alone! Praise God we are part of His great family and He promised never to leave alone. When we trust Him we are never 'Home Alone!'
